About GreenMoms - Coastside

(Half Moon Bay, California and Surrounding Coastside)

GreenMoms are about connecting and sharing at International, Regional and Neighborhood levels to help each other live greener lives.  We are always evolving and trying to stay in tune with the members’ interests.

  1.   Non-Political Support Group for Moms wanting to green their lives

  2.   Non-Locals are welcome to join to share/learn ideas and resources

  3.   Any other type of caregivers are welcome too. The name 'Moms' was chosen

because this group was a spin-off of the local Moms Club.

  1.   Spammers are not tolerated

Some past Events: Tour of Whole Foods, Tour of Tunitas Creek Ranch and Organic Farm, Guest speaker on (SVO) or veggie oil fuel at Vida Verde Farms, Guest speaker on Green Building and Bee Keeping, Tour of Phipps Ranch, Holiday gift-bag making party.

Online and at meetings, we share Resources and discuss topics such as non-toxic natural toys, household cleaner recipes, simplifying the holidays, organic food, sustainably produced foods, how to find skin care/cosmetics without petroleum by-products, and links to green companies and organizations. It's so much easier to be green with inspiration and support from other parents!  Absolutely everything listed has been recommended by a member GreenMom and is not a recommendation from an editorial staff.  Of course, the founders of GreenMoms are also members so we include our personal recommendations.  Some of the business resources we recommend are not 100% green but offer a green option or will do green work upon request. To get the dirt on some of our recommended resources, or to recommend your own, start a Discussion Forum and discuss it with the other moms or parents.  We do not consider ourselves the absolute authority on all things green, so please Submit your product recommendations and links or share your insights at our Discussion Forum or respond to one of our Blog entries.  Our site is here for everyone to share green knowledge and resources.  Send your recommendations - we may post them!

This group is intended to be a positive, learning, and inspirational experience. We share solutions instead of focusing too much on the problems.  So Join in and enjoy!

Our Definition of Green:

Green is...taking action that reduces a carbon footprint on the environment in any way, small or large; taking action to reduce pollution within our bodies and our homes; reducing or eliminating our demand for products that pollute the world; changing our demand for products, services and businesses to those that sustain the world rather than deplete it; it is re-using things we already have; it is reducing our waste; it is recycling what we can.

And just so you have it, The Green Guide explains the differences between organic, fair trade, and Rainforest Alliance certifications.  Read about the differences for yourself, click here.
